ORLANDO, Fla. – Sept. 26, 2017 – A U.S. Army Corp of Engineers program, Operation Blue Roof, has just been expanded to some Central Florida counties, making it available, so far, in 29 Sunshine State counties.

Under Operation Blue Roof, homeowners with damaged roofs can apply for help and, if approved, licensed contractors will cover the damage on their roofs with fiber-reinforced plastic sheeting (tarps) that should avoid further damage to their home's interior until the owner can arrange to have it repaired.

The program's goal is to help more people in disaster areas remain in their homes.

The service applies only primary residences with less than 50 percent structural damage, and not all roof types qualify. Visit the Operation Blue Roof webpage for more information.
